Tinctures

What is a tincture:  it is a concentrated liquid extract of an herb.  It usually contains alcohol, however, the menstruum (liquid solvent) used can also be glycerin or vinegar.

What are the benefits of a tincture?  A tincture preserves the plant material for a longer time than other herbal remedies.  They are convenient to take because there is no preparation involved.  They are fast acting because they reach the blood stream very quickly.  They are an easy way to mix a formula

What are the down falls of a tincture?  They do contain alcohol so are inappropriate for those sensitive or in recovery of alcohol.  They are more costly to buy then other types of preparations

how do we take tinctures? Take it strait from dropper to the tongue, add it to jiuce, water, tea, herbal syrup.  Use it topically, it can be added to poultices and compresses.
