Green Witch Gathering

This is our second Green Witch Gathering and had a wonderful time last Autumn equinox. This year we will celebrate Beltane, the halfway to summer, to celebrate the beauty, fertility and blossoming of life, earth and nature kind. We shall celebrate during the day with kids crafts and yoga, workshops on soap making, astrology, herbalism and more. There will be live owls, witchy and nature crafts, yoga and drumming. There will be several vendors, tarot readers and reiki/healing practitioners to visit. The evening will be an adult centered Beltane fire, mediation and ceremony.

In this beginner friendly class we will learn about gardening foundations such as creating soil health, watering, mulching and plant spacing.  Choosing the right plants for your land,  herbs for full sun, partial shade, woodland, prairie and wet areas.  Growing and propagation basics, seeds vs starts, transplanting, dividing perennial herbs, cuttings.  Designing a simple medicine garden, top 10 herbs to grow, medicinal weeds to welcome. Bring seeds to share if you desire.

Spring Plant Walk

Saturday April 4. 9:00 am.  MEDICINAL & EDIBLE PLANT ID HIKE at Horseshoe Bottoms.

I will, once again, lead a hike through the woodland and prairie of horseshoe bottoms in West Peoria to discover the useful plants, trees, and fungi.  This is a free event but donations to friends of rocky glen are welcome. Meet by 9 am at St Mary’s Cemetery, far west end.  Enter the cemetery off of sterling ave in West Peoria, drive through the stone Pilars and keep driving down the hill till you get to the end.  You will see the cars and people.  Liability permits required. Sponsored by Friends of Rocky Glen.

In this Kitchen Apothecary class, you’ll learn how to utilize common culinary herbs for healing, magic, and first aid. We’ll explore the powerful medicine already living in your spice cabinet and kitchen, and how to work with it intentionally to support health, resilience, and everyday wellness.

This class blends traditional herbal knowledge, folk wisdom, and practical application, giving you tools you can use immediately in daily life. You’ll leave with a deeper relationship to your kitchen, a renewed sense of self-reliance, and the confidence to turn everyday foods into powerful allies for healing.

Some of the herbs we are sure to discuss: Basil, cayenne, cinnamon, chamomile, fennel, garlic, ginger, honey, horseradish, lemon, mint, nutmeg, onion, oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage, shiitake, thyme, turmeric.
